Digital Media Literacy

During our opening conversation yesterday we said that digital media literacy was the ability to access, analyze, critically evaluate, and produce communication in a variety of digital forms.
What place does publishing have in developing this literacy?

Jamie and I just wanted to say thanks to all that attended the Digital Video for Educators camp last week.
It was a blast working and learning with all of you. If anyone has any final thoughts about the experience we look forward to reading them here.

Smartphones


Smartphones are cell phones, video cameras, computers and portable music players all mashed into one and are quickly becomes extremely popular. In the past we have seen the effect that that these tools have had on our students lives.

What will happen when they have it all in the palm of their hand? Will we spend our days confiscating this technology or is there a way that we can use it as a tool in our classrooms?

In his TED Talk, Sir Ken Robinson makes a case for creating an education system that nurtures creativity, rather than undermining it.

What can we do in our schools to take better advantage of the creative skills that our students are coming to our classrooms with?
